The concept of academic self-efficacy, which refers to Albert Bandura's self-efficacy theory, is an important factor in students' academic achievement. The aim of this work was to develop a research tool for assessing high school students' academic self-efficacy.
Therefore a questionnaire was developed, verified in the pilot study and tested on first through third grades students of five Prague secondary schools. The research sample contained 611 students.
Collected data were examined with item and factor analysis, the other psychometric characteristics were proven. The findings indicate that the developed assessment tool is reliable, has satisfactory validity, and is applicable in school practice.
The research has also revealed interesting relations between academic self-efficacy and other variables such as gender, age or demanding school situations experienced by student.
