The aim of this article is to introduce the attachment theory in application to teacher-student relationships. The study of the teacher-student relationship from the perspective of the attachment theory is a relatively new trend which dates back to approximately the 1990s.
Even though the studies of the past 20 years have shown that most students do not form a bond with their teachers in the attachment sense, they nevertheless confirmed rightness of the application of the attachment theory to the teacher-student relationship. Above all, a positive and safe relationship with a teacher proves to be important for at-risk children and behaviourallychallenging children.
