The contribution examines the crucial ideological work from the time of Albanian national renaissance movement at the close of the 19th century (S. Frashëri: Albania - what it was, what it is and what it will be) and its influence on the construction of Albanian historical narration from the 20th century and the present.
Along with unveiling the work itself within the context of the Albanian national renaissance movement (Rilindja), the lecture will focus on what content of Frashëri's work is still on the order of the day in the Albanian ethnic space and how some of his ideas have been dealt with during the 20th century and at present.
