Presentation of my dissertation project, which aims to reconstruct the artistic and aesthetic models of Gesamtkunstwerk, as emerged in the era of European Modernism and early Avant-garde, in order to expose music-inspired composition of selected works of art and its aesthetic and philosophical significance. The focal point lies within the central study of Der Blaue Reiter Almanac and selected works by artists associated with the editorial board of the Almanac.
The project is based on the premise that the music-inspired Gesamtkunstwerk acts as a sort of quasi-literary meta-genre, an experimental means of self-revision of art and its traditionally understood species. Inspired by contemporary interdisciplinary research, the project's methodology is based in intermedial studies.
