Abstract

This case study describes a modern antidiabetic therapy of a young female shortly treated for type 2 diabetes mellitus in whom metformin monotherapy failed. Initiation of fixed-dose combination of dapagliflozin (gliflozin) plus metformin led to decrease of body weight, blood pressure lowering, and achievement of target concentration of glycated hemoglobin with no hypoglycemic events.

Fixed-dose combination of dapagliflozin plus metformin was chosen because good adherence to such treatment was expected and with respect to complex positive effect dapagliflozin exerts on cardiovascular risk factors.
