Traumatic injuries of primary teeth

Abstract

Dental trauma of primary teeth is common reason of visiting the child in dental office. The most frequent affected teeth are one or two frontal teeth, mostly in upper jaw.

Dental trauma involves hard dental tissues, periodontal tissues or combination of both. Dental injuries are frequently accompanied with soft tissue damage.

Severe trauma of primary teeth may lead to damage of permanent successors. The aim of this paper is to present the overview of aetiology, classification and clinical characteristics of traumatic injuries in primary dentition including treatment options.
