Methodologically-oriented study synthesizes the basic requirements for the size and representativeness of the sample in quantitatively oriented educational research. Article presents basic sample selection procedures, it's features and their impact on the required sample size and the impact on the possibility of generaliyation of results.
In addition to standard random sampling designs (simple, multistage, stratified and cluster) is discussed as well as the impact of the size of the non-random samples. The study provides procedures for determining the power of statistical tests test and summarizes the basic recommendations for sample size.
