Many serious railway accidents happened in Czechoslovakia in the 50's and 60's. The cause usually was negligence or human error.
Only few information about these accidents were published, contrarily the Cezchoslovak rail was presented as a very reliable company. Transport experts were well informed about the problems and they tried to find the roots of the bad situation.
With every new accident, the dissatisfaction with the situation was growing. The paper presents how the investigation ran, how the findings were implemented, how media informed about the accident and what was the reaction of public.
The paper is based on research of daily press and archival documents (investigation files, documents of Ministry of Transport etc.) after a series of railway accidents that happened between years 1960-1965.
