Abstract
: Social theory is applied to the study of sport migration, whether acknowledged or not. This study attempts to identify the dominant social theories used in the study of sport migration over the past 20 years.
Further, the advantages and disadvantages of particular social theories as applied to the type of sport migration being studied are identified
