The Journalists in the Shadow of Distrust: On Some Causes of Declining Credibility of the Czech Journalists

Abstract
This paper attempts to describe some predictors of increasing untrustworthiness of the Czech journalists among Czech population and at the same time looks for an explanation of the collapse of that trust which can be connected with: (a) long-term value asymmetries between the political attitudes of voters who are in favour of more centre-left values, (b) the rejection of journalists working in the mainstream media as instruments of power who in the eyes of the majority of population do not represent its interests and only contribute to legitimization of the post-November transformation process, and (c) perception of media consumers who see journalists as a co-culprits of their social problems.
