This book written by authors of the Charles University Research Centre of Human Rights (UNCE) is focused on the topič of "emergency situations and human rights". The chosen topic opens many legal issues, whether they are related to the fight against terrorism and extremism or to armed conflicts, to attempts to solve the current migration crisis or many other situations.
Especially in times of emergency and due to the various extraordinary legal measures adopted in times of emergency, it is necessary to assure that human rights are respected. Both international and domestic law are involved, particularly the international human rights law and domestic constitutional law.
It is possible to distinguish between two different concepts of emergencies in law. The first one is provided for and governed by the existing legal framework, such as the temporary derogations in čase of war or other emergency situations under article 15 of the European Convention of Human Rights.
The second one means rather a replacement of the current legal (constitutional) framework by another framework. The following contributions are divided into four parts reflecting several of the above-mentioned legal fields.
Starting with the theoreti-cal introduction, followed by international human rights and refugee law topics, the publication concludes with the very important and recent topič of nationality withdrawal.
