Comparison of de novo cardiovascular disease in patients with end-stage renal disease treated by hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis

Abstract

The risk of de novo heart failure is in patients treated by hemodialysis significantly higher than in patients treated by peritoneal dialysis, probably as a consequence of myocardial stunning during intermitent hemodialysis and possibly some other factors.
