Abstract
This study deals with the character of the last king of Judea, King Zedekiah, and the first statement of the Lord uttered by Jeremiah the Prophet and addressed to this king. This adumbrates the reign of Zedekiah as king.
The statement represents a key to the other statements addressed to Zedekiah, and it shows which political decisions the prophet expected of the king.
