Abstract

The book is focused on the life of famous Hussite captain Jakoubek of Vřešovice. This native from Moravia had first appeared in sources in 1426 as a captain of Bílina; his previous activities are ambiguous.

At the end of the Hussite wars, Jakoubek was one of the leading person of the movement given his position as the captain of Louny - Žatec Union. Unlike other Hussite leaders, who died in the battle of Lipany, he survived as he was besieging the castle of Kostmolaty at this time.

After the Hussite wars, Jakoubek was able to maintain friendly relationships with important figures of the period such as Ulrich of Rosenberg or King George of Podebrady. Final chapters of this book also discuss the fate of his offsprings and there is also an effort to compare him with other Hussite warriors.
