There are no textbooks for foreign pupils for each school year and subject, which would correspond to the expected outputs of RVP ZV and which would be prepared with regard to the fact that the Czech is a foreign language or second language for them. This paper focuses on the possibility of adaptation of existing textbooks for non-native speakers.
The paper suggests ways of adaptation a textbook (or a part of it) for foreign pupils considering their level of proficiency and documents for foreign language teaching, which are now available to the teacher (reference descriptions of Czech as a foreign language and the Common European Framework of Reference). There are also presented the results of an investigation that compared the success rate in solving tasks and comprehension by foreign pupils based on two types of teaching materials - original chapter in the history textbook and its modified form for the language level A2 / B1.
