The research concerns the rapports between different forces that co-produce an urban space. The subject is studied through public spaces in quarters of housing estates La Plaine du Lys in France and Jizni Mesto in Czech Republic.
I study different representations of space and disagreements (intentional or not) between the actors involved in urban renovation process that can lead into visible conflicts in public spaces. By qualitative and inductive methodology I identify two major groups of conflicts in public spaces in both territories: the first group is articulated around the centrality of the space, that is not identified in case of La Plaine du Lys and not developed in case of Jizni Mesto.
The second group concerns an appropriation of a public space by groups of young people - men with Maghreb's origins in the case of La Plaine du Lys and the scholars in case of Jizni Mesto.
