Chronic radiodermatitis is a severe skin disease manifesting after long, mostly years lasting, cumulative exposure to low doses of ionizing radiation. The highest incidence of this disorder was recorded in the 1960s and 1970s, since that time a steady decline in incidence has been registered.
In recent years no new case has been reported. Paper is focussed on the case of chronic radiodermatitis involving hands of a surgeon working with ionizing radiation in the years 1972-1978 affected by skin atrophy, osteoporosis and osteomyelitis leading to finger amputation.
