The paper is focused on application of psychosomatic perspective based on bio-psycho-social model in outpatient psychiatry. The bio-psycho-social model including psychotherapeutic approach is emphasized as a starting point for therapeutic collaboration with patients and their families in outpatient psychiatry practice.
It is argued that the bio-psycho-social model is necessary for coordinated and effective interdisciplinary collaboration with other professionals in mental health care. One of the main goals of such collaboration is individualized treatment/care for a person with mental ill/health and his/her family.
Author's experience with one possible form of such collaboration is described. Some ideas coming from the critical psychiatry and contemporary neuroscience are mentioned with regard to transformation of mental health care including psychiatry in the Czech Republic.
