Adherence to treatment or compliance with treatment is a big problem, which apllies approximately to 50 up to 60% of chronically ill patients. Adherence to treatment of sclerosis multiplex (SM) is a significant aspect of treatment and care for these patients and undoubtedly has an impact on therapeutical results and its prognosis.
Adherence to treatment is determined by many factors: dosage form, the frequency of administration, treatment offectiveness, its long-term safety and tolerance, awarenes of adverse offects and its solving by a doctor, patients confidence and control of compliance with treatment. Differences in adhrence occur in adults and children.
The patients condition and self-sufficiency, surrouding, hope for future and support by medical staff belong to predictors od adherence in SM.
