Abstract

The project "Early Copper Metallurgy in Ancient Egypt: case study of the material in the Egyptian Museum of Leipzig University" is a cooperation of the Czech Institute of Egyptology, Chalres University in Prague (M. Odler), University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (J.

Kmošek) and Egyptian Museum - Georg Steindorff - of Leipzig University (D. Raue, K.

H. von Stülpnagel). The aim of the project is an analysis of a corpus of finds with documented find circumstances with a range of archaeometallurgical methods.

The finds can be included into diverse object categories: the project comprises model tools, vessels, mirrors and other objects. Diachronic perspective should contribute to the better knowledge of the ore sources and technologies used for the production of objects.
