Abstract
This study discusses the story of the Nazi destruction of Lidice and development of Lidice as a global symbol of humanity and victory over Nazism, but also the ideological struggle of the communist regime. More precisely, the chapter shows the development of the interpretation of Lidice through different historical periods - including the postwar period, the Cold War, the Prague Spring or the period after 1989.
In this way, the study represents an important contribution to the research of the Czech/Czeschoslovak history as well as of the history of Czech-German relations after Worl War 2.
