Mobile device for examination of visual evoked potentials - prototype II

Publication

Abstract

The second version of the mobile device for visual evoked potentials (VEPs) examination includes a new type of the headset which improves its fixation on the head of the examined subject, it is more ergonomic (subjectively more comfortable) and it enables more simple adjustment of additional recording electrodes (3rd and 4th recorded channels) in the hairy part of the head. A new set of visual stimuli was implemented, using the full matrix of stimulating LEDs and their colour characteristics.

There is available a function for elimination of artefacts related to a movement of the examined subject (using an integrated 3-D accelerometer) which has an adjustable sensitivity. It is possible to make corrections of the stimulating LED luminance according to the background luminance (measured by the integrated sensor).

The new version of the control and evaluating software EPort v. 4.5. enables large choice of display, storage and evaluation of the recorded VEPs. The existing version of the prototype (10 pieces were made) is ready for verification of its diagnostic effectiveness in selected neurophysiological labs.
