This publication reveals to the Bulgarian readers hitherto unknown information about the anti-Habsburg political activities of the Czech journalist Vladimir Sis in Sofia during Bulgarian neutrality (1914-1915) described in the memoirs of his older brother František Sis "Chapters from Maffia's activities". The memoirs reveal that the anti-Habsburg activities of Vladimir Sis in Sofia during the period in question could be divided into two periods.
During the first one (September 1914 - March 1915) he elaborated a memorandum for the Allies, in which he revealed the Czech aspirations for the establishment of independent Czecho-Slovak state. Also, during this period Vl.
Sís launched anti-Habsburg propaganda and transmitted the intelligence reports to the Russian military attache in Sofia. During the second period (from the late spring till the early October 1915) the Czech journalist continued his propaganda and intelligence work as well as his secret conversations with the Allied diplomatic representatives in Sofia.
Last but not least, during the summer of 1915 Vl. Sís put great emphasis on his conversations with Bulgarian politicians (mainly from the opposition) in order to receive information about Bulgaria's intention to enter the war.
These talks were important because these give a valuable information about the politicial situation in neutral Bulgaria as well as revealed the conviction of the illegal Czech organization "Maffia" that Bulgaria's entry into the war would undoubtedly have an enormous effect on the solution of the Czech national question.
