Abstract
We present an alternative way to think about forces acting on a simple pendulum and how to depict them in this paper. The starting point is an analysis of free-body diagrams in Czech physics textbooks.
Among other problematic characteristics of the free-body diagrams, there is no depiction of the resultant force acting on the pendulum bob. The alternative way to think about acting forces and to depict them is provided in detail here.
