The study, theoretically grounded in the sociology of innovation and based on qualitative researches conducted in 2013 and 2014, offers an evaluation of two transitional housing systems in the Czech Republic. The first part of the study shows how the transitional housing systems, utilizing the 'Housing Ready' model, are arranged and work as complex assemblages that include not only "neutral" technical but also administrative, social, and normative features.
Following ten individual cases of systems' clients the study shows in the second part that the "success" or "lack of success" of clients in acquiring standard housing cannot be subscribed only to them as a result of their "motivations" and "competencies". Firstly, the evaluation identifies substantive barriers of the systems in helping their clients to move to standard housing; secondly, it supplements a debate about housing exlusion and homelessness in the Czech Republic with new arguments; and thirdly, it formulates new approaches to social inclusion based on evidence-based policy.
