The history of the Croatian minority in Moravia date back to the early 16th century, when they emigrated due to the Turkish invasions. A minority settled mainly in regions of Podluží, Mikulovsko, Břeclavsko and Hodonínsko.
Their culture, language and customs maintained until the mid 20th century, when state power forced them to leave their homes, which led to the severing of ties between members of the minority and their accelerated assimilation. After 1989, the Moravian Croats started to organize again and seek to stop the process of assimilation.
It is a critically endangered national minority.
