The article deals with an analysis of the beginnings of Czech baroque studies in the thirties of the 20th century in the works written by Josef Vašica, Zdeněk Kalista, Václav Černý a Arne Novák. The advantages connected with the enforcing of the concept of Baroque into the interpretation of the Czech literature of the 17th and the 18th century are analysed first of all, but its limits are registred as well.
