Abstract
This study deals with population aging as the most characteristic feature of demographic development in the Czech Republic and other developed countries. The aim is to highlight the current global aging phenomenon as one of the most important current problems and to analyze the extent to which disability affects the lives of elderly people.
The outcome of the paper is a set of recommendations for quality improvement and sustainability of the pension system.
