Tracking presentative semantic patterns through parallel corpora

Abstrakt

The paper focuses on less frequent forms of presentative constructions, viz. English sentences with a locative subject.

It points out the close ties between the presentative function of the sentence and the semantics of the verb. The material is drawn from the Czech-English parallel translation corpus.
