Jiří Kolář (1914-2002) and his wife Běla Kolářová (1923-2010) belongs to the intenationally recognized personalities of Czech postwar art. Kolář started his career before the WWII, his wife's work developed from the second half of the 1950's, but they met earlier - shortly after the end of the war.
The essay asks what common values they shared and in which way they drawed consequences in their work from the uncompromising drift to the art experiment.
