The chapter presents the results of a study focused on mapping a reading profile of children with dyslexia. First, it presents the concept of dyslexia in the Czech Republic and abroad, and also summarizes the current state of knowledge about the reading related skills of children with dyslexia in early school age.
In data analysis the level of reading related skills and reading comprehension skills of children with dyslexia in the fourth grade (N = 32) are compared with a control group of children with typical reading development (N = 126) and a reading- age control group (N = 120). The findings are discussed with the results of related research studies and in the context of the issue of reading difficulties and its terminology.
