In our globalised society interpreters face new challenges: English as lingua franca and thousands of migrants with different "exotic" languages. How does academia respond to all of these chalenges and the current market requirements? The author describes the training of interpreters at the Institut of Translation studies and the use of new technologies and virtual classes (videoconferences, remote interpreting, mock-conferences, i-coach classes, platforms with recorded speeches, such as Speech repository 2.0).
