Qualitative analysis of diet of non-breeding cormorants (Phalacrocorax carbo): is optimal and maximum prey size of species dependent?

Abstract

IN cooperation with AOPK ČR and ČRS, we studied size and species distribution of diet of the Great Cormorant at many places in the Czech Republic. So far, we have identified 24 fish species in cormorant diet. majority of fish consumed by cormorants were smaller than 30 cm.
