In our contribution the positive column of argon-oxygen DC glow discharge is investigated. The model of the positive column under pressure of several hundreds of pascal is used to study the influence of the small concentration of oxygen impurities on the properties of the argon discharge.
Our one-dimensional continuous model is built on mean-electron-energy approximation that is used for the treatment of electron interactions. The model estimates the particle concentration and the electric field.
It is shown that one percent of oxygen admixture causes significant increase of the longitudinal electric field and gas heating.
