Signal generator of (not only) low frequences - and what we can learn by building it

Abstract

The paper describes how to build a simple signal generator of triangle and square waveforms. It generates signals in the frequency range from 0,25 Hz to about 18 kHz.

The output has quite large output resistence so there is also an auxiliary circuit added that can switch current from an external source for example to a small light bulb or a loudspeaker. The generator uses double operational amplifier TLC272.

The goal of the workshop, apart from building this simple tool, was to familiarize ourselves with two circuits with operational amplifiers: an integrator and also a comparator with hysteresis and also with other component, a voltage reference, that could be also useful for physics teachers.
