The paper deals with the life of a Czechoslovak State Security agent Vladimír Třebín, who was sent as a theological student to the Papal College Nepomucenum in Rome from 1956 to 1960 and who brought here Karel Skalický, who lately became one of the major figures of the exile for priests. The paper offers a view into the environment of the Church personalities in the exile and in the Czechoslovakia and into the inside of the functioning of the State Security at a critical moment, when it had to pull back its wayward agent to protect him from the uncovering of his true identity.
Last but not least the paper shows, how the totalitarian regimes and wars presented difficult challenges for the moral integrity of the people living in the 20th century.
