Abstract

The study focuses on Ivan Medek's prosecution in the second half of the 1950s. Medek was one of more than 60 people investigated and placed under trial in the so-called "Krtek" action.

Medek together with some of his friends was sentenced for illegally keeping in contact with his friends in Western Europe and for illegal practice regarding foreign currency. More specifically, Ivan Medek was sentenced for having helped his friend Stanislav Duchoň to obtain foreign currency for his trip abroad and agreeing to hide money belonging to his friend Jaromír Žid after his imprisonment.

The study also describes Medek's personal life in the 1950s, including the very interesting circle of his friends.
