Abstract

Clashes between Czech university masters concerning philosopher and theologian from Oxford began to take place as early as 1403. On 16 July 1410, at the orders of Archbishop Zbyněk Zajíc of Hazmburk, scores of Wycliffe's writings were burned.

Jan Hus spoke out publicly against the Archbishop's actions and sent an appeal to the papal court.
