Reporting verbs in translations of three different languages

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2016

Abstract

The study investigates the use of reporting verbs in fiction written in Czech, English and Finnish and their translations into these three languages. It concentrates on the reduction of repetition as one of the often suggested translation universals.

It also deals with the question if the same reporting verbs are used both in original and translated fiction. The data used for the investigation come from the parallel corpus InterCorp.
