"Between Iphigenia and Asterix." About the Problem of High-brow Culture and Relativism in Education.

Abstract

The author discusses the responsibility of schools to foster the pupils' relationship to culture. The starting point is analysis of contemporary dispute over the nature of culture.

The author poses the question whether it is possible for an educator to give up all value hierarchy, and leave the question of culture to its esthetic and moral forms as reduced to its description.
