This chapter deals with the most recognized representatives ("excellencies") of the Czechoslovak criminal law doctrine in the field of criminal procedural law in the 1st half of 20th century, so in the time, in which end professor Růžek started to publish. The text presents in historical context of a development of criminal law the selected, mainly literary outstanding works of the then authors.
Then, its goal is primarily not to deal with the great personalities of the criminal law doctrine of that time. In addition to the works of the significant personalities it pays attention to some works that has been nearly forgotten.
The essay clearly indicates an applicability of historical knowledge and scientific approaches in the field of contemporary law doctrine.
