Contribution of Acupupressure in the Therapy of Patients Suffering from Primary Dysmenorrhea

Abstract

The main objective of this experimental work is to determine the effect of acupressure on menstrual complains and pain in young women suffering from primary dysmenorrhea using standardized questionnaires Menstrual Distress Questionnaire and Short-form McGill Pain Questionnaire. In 10 intentionally selected probands who had a gynecologist diagnosed primary dysmenorrhea was conducted acupressure intervention that included five treatments of selected ten acupoints.

The efficacy of therapy was evaluated by comparing of the value standardized questionnaires befor and after therapy. Results showes signifacant effectiveness of acupressure therapy.
