Determination of Tartrazine and Allura Red at Boron Doped Diamond Electrodes

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2016

Abstract

Differential pulse voltammetry was used for determination of synthetic azodyes, Tartrazine and Allura Red, at boron doped diamond electrode deposited using boron/carbon ratio 4000 ppm. For azo group reduction cathodic pretreatment and electrode surface activation was used to obtain well-shaped and developed peaks at potentials -267.7+-20.6 mV for Allura Red and -478.6+-27.7 mV for Tartrazine (vs.

Ag│AgCl│3 mol.l-1 KCl) in 0.1 mol.l-1 sulfuric acid. Limits of detections of 1,1.10-6 mol.l-1 for Tartrazine and 6,6.10-7 mol.l-1 for Allura Red were achieved in 0,1 mol.l-1 sulfuric acid.

Achieved results and sufficient peak separation suggests the possibility of simultaneous voltammetric determination of the two azo dyes in real matrices.
