Abstract
Johann P. Arnason and Ireneusz Pawel Karolewski The introductory chapter describes the contents of the volume and the aims of the Annual of European and Global Studies.
In addition, it briefly sketches the research background of the publication. It also puts the individual chapters in the context of religion and politics, in particular the secularisation discourse, civilisational studies and modernisation debates.
