Abstract
Frustules - typical shells of diatoms - appear in considerable variability of forms and structures. Because of small dimensions, their characteristic details cannot be observed under an optical microscope without a high-refractive medium.
In this paper, preparation of pleurax is described. Thanks to its high refractive index this substance can be used like a mounting medium for diatom microscope slides preparation.
