Assessment of fluid responsiveness is a very important component of fluid therapy in the anaesthetized and critically ill patients. Using a broad spectrum of different tests allows the assessment of the impact of preload change on the central hemodynamics prior to the actual fluid infusion, which may help deliver individiual patient-centered fluid therapy and decrease the risks associated with fluid overload.
This review article is a printed supplement and explanation of the electronic Smart Card issued for better understanding of the issue of fluid responsiveness.
