Abstract

Thromboembolic ischemic stroke (TIS) is a rare but potentially devastating complication of catheter-based cardiovascular interventions (CBCVI). An ad hoc survey of the available evidence has confirmed that TIS in CBCVI is uncommon but presents with an incidence dependent on the type of intervention.

In patients with STEMI and aspiration thrombectomy the reported risk of TIS ranges from 0.5% to 0.7%
