The quality of family relationships is considered important in the process of developing dependence (protective or risk factor). The study deals with the perception of their families and their relationships with children with learning difficulties, children with anxiety disorders and children without major problems (a total of 87 children - clients of psychological counseling from 5 to 18 years old, mean age 10 years).
The central source of information is the FAST method, which spatially operationalises relationships and also allows for verbal description of individual situations in the family. It has been shown that the highest total family cohesiveness in the families of children was without significant difficulty, on the contrary, there were no significant differences in the level of overall cohesion between the families of children with anxiety and educational difficulties.
This is an important finding because families of anxious children with a family therapist usually appear to be very cohesive.
