The article commemorates the 170th anniversary of the first publication of two well-known English novels: Jane Eyre and Vanity Fair. It focuses on the early Victorian literary society and it explores how different political and literary periodicals received these new (and somehow controversial) books.
The article also mentions Czech translations of Jane Eyre and Vanity Fair.
