The Role of Social Engagement in the Integration of the Newcomers in the Rural Communities

Abstract

One of the fundamental preconditions for the development of the countryside is the engage- ment of its citizens. The objective of this paper is to explore the role of social engagement, understood as an important part of civic engagement, in the process of the social relations-building between the old resi- dents and the newcomers in the rural communities.
